  • What dates will Wild Lights take place at Dublin Zoo?

    Wild Lights opens on Thursday 24th October 2024 and runs to 5th January 2025.

    Wild Lights is open Thursday to Sunday in October (plus bank holiday Monday, Oct 28th), Thursday to Sunday in November, and Monday to Sunday in December (excluding Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and St. Stephen’s Day). Wild Lights opens on November 20th for a sensory-friendly evening.

  • What time does the experience start and finish?

    Admission times to Wild Lights are as follow:

    24th October to 28th October and 31st October to 3rd November:

    6pm – 10pm.
    Last entry is 9pm sharp. There will be no admissions after this time.

    Remaining Wild Lights period:

    5pm-9pm.
    Last entry is 8pm sharp. There will be no admissions after this time.

  • Is my time limited?

    No, once you enter Dublin Zoo, your time is not limited and you can stay until we close.

    Please remember to double-check the last entry time for the date you’ll be visiting.

  • Who is Wild Lights suitable for?

    The experience is suitable for all ages, families, couples and groups alike. This experience is wheelchair and buggy accessible.

  • Is the Wild Lights’ route wheelchair and buggy accessible?

    Yes, the route has been designed so that wheelchairs and buggies can get around as easily as possible.

  • Can I rent a mobility scooter?

    We have four mobility scooters available to rent. The cost is €25 and they can be collected from the Visitor Operations desk at the main entrance of Dublin Zoo.

    Mobility Scooters are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

    Please be advised the rental fee is non-refundable or exchangeable and mobility scoot rentals are subject to availability. The mobility scooter rental fee does not include entry to Wild Lights.

  • Can I bring a guide dog or assistance dog?

    Guide dogs and personal assistance dogs are not permitted into Wild Lights.

  • Can I bring my pet?

    Domestic pets are not permitted into Wild Lights.

  • What will be different this year compared to previous years?

    This year, the theme for Wild Lights is ‘A Journey Through Time’ and visitors will be transported across time through mesmerising and colourful displays of light and sound through hand-crafted traditional Chinese lanterns.

  • Will I see any animals?

    No, it’s very unlikely you’ll see the animals as at that time of year they’ll mostly be in their indoor habitats and houses where it’s warm!

  • If I buy a Wild Lights ticket, can I come to the Zoo in the daytime?

    No, Wild Lights admission tickets do not give admission to the Zoo during daytime operating hours.

  • Will Wild Lights go ahead in bad weather?

    Wild Lights will still go ahead unless weather conditions are deemed unsafe for our visitors, staff and animals, in which case the event will be cancelled. Please see our cancellation policy below.

  • What should I wear?

    Please be aware that this is an outdoor winter experience so please dress appropriately.

  • I have luggage, where can I leave it?

    There are lockers available at the entrance. The lockers cost €5. Once you pay, you can operate the lockers via the key.

    Note: In line with standard protocol for past Wild Lights, backpacks and large bags are not permitted. Only small bags measuring no bigger than A4 (8.27in/21cm x 11.7/ 29.7cm) will be permitted into the Zoo.

  • Are there cash machines on-site?

    There is one ATM on-site at Wild Lights, located in the main gift shop at the entrance of the Zoo.

  • Security Arrangements for Entry

    Entry to Wild Lights is subject to bag searches. For the safety and enjoyment of all attending, An Garda Síochána and Dublin Zoo request that patrons leave bags at home while attending Wild Lights.

    Note: In line with standard protocol for past Wild Lights, backpacks and large bags are not permitted. Only small bags measuring no bigger than A4 (8.27in/21cm x 11.7/ 29.7cm) will be permitted into the Zoo.

    Exceptions will be made for people with medical conditions and children, but all bags will be subject to search.

  • This is an alcohol and drug-free experience.

    Management reserves the right to refuse admission and to eject any persons attempting to interfere with Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo or gain access to any non-public areas within the Zoo. Please note and adhere to all public signage and staff instructions while in the Zoo.

  • Is the Gift Shop open?

    Yes, the Dublin Zoo gift shop will be open.

  • How to get to Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo

    Dublin Zoo is situated in Phoenix Park in the city of Dublin. The city is easily accessible from all over Ireland by car, bus and train.

    Dublin Bus is the easiest and most extensive travel network in Dublin.

    Please double-check bus timetables before you depart as each line does not run all day.

    The bus routes that stop closest to Dublin Zoo are: 26, 68, 69, 46A, C5, C6

  • Where can I park?

    There is no designated parking for Dublin Zoo in Phoenix Park and parking will be on a first-come basis, but below are our suggested parking based on your time slot:

    • 5-6pm: Park on the Upper North road, Garda Headquarters and Married Quarters
    • 6-7pm: Park on Lords Walk car park and Citadel Pond

Accessibility FAQs

  • Visitors with additional needs

    There are no concession tickets for visitors with additional needs however, if needed, Dublin Zoo will permit one free carer per person with additional needs.

    A carer ticket can be added to your booking online at the time of purchase. When attending please bring relevant ID and/or documentation, such as an IAA Autism ID card, or an associated membership card, hospital/doctor letter or similar which confirms the visitor is unable to visit Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo independently without the aid of a carer or mobility aid.

  • Is this experience accessible for wheelchairs and buggies?

    Yes, the route has been designed so that wheelchairs and buggies can get around as easily as possible.

    For visitors with mobility issues, Dublin Zoo has a limited number of wheelchairs. These wheelchairs are available on a first-come first-served basis.

  • Can I rent a wheelchair?

    We have 20 wheelchairs available which are cleaned and sanitised before each use and are given on a first-come-first-served basis. Wheelchairs can be collected from the Visitor Operations Office at the front entrance at Dublin Zoo.

  • What date are tickets for Wild Lights on sale?

    Tickets are on sale from Tuesday 24th September for Annual Pass holders, Wednesday 25th September for our Newsletter Subscriber Pre-sale and Thursday 26th September for General Sale.

  • How do I buy tickets?

    Tickets are only available to buy online at www.dublinzoo.ie.

    There will be no ticket sales available from the ticket office at Dublin Zoo or by phone/email.

  • How long will my ticket be valid for?

    Wild Lights is a date and time specific event. Tickets are valid for the chosen date and time of booking ONLY. Tickets are strictly non-refundable, as per our terms and conditions.

  • What is the entrance cost to Wild Lights?

    Peak prices apply to Thurs-Sun, Nov 20th, and Dec 27th to Jan 5th.
    Off-peak prices apply to midweek dates (Mon-Wed) in December.

    Children under 3yrs can visit for free but require a (free) ‘Under 3yrs’ ticket to gain entry.

    Carers can visit for free if accompanying an adult or child with additional needs – valid carer ID required.

  • Do children under 3yrs go free?

    Yes, children aged under 3yrs can visit Wild Lights for free but they must have a valid ticket and this can be booked free of charge at www.dublinzoo.ie

  • Students/Senior Citizens

    Students and Senior Citizens (65yrs+) can attend the event at a discounted rate and those tickets are available online. They must bring a valid ID when presenting their ticket at the event.

  • Visitors with Additional Needs

    There are no concession tickets available for visitors with additional needs. Dublin Zoo will permit one free carer per person with additional needs.

  • Can I change the date of my Wild Lights ticket?

    Wild Lights is a date and time specific event. However, Dublin Zoo offers Wild Lights customers the option to change the date of their booking up to 7 days before their original date of visit. If you wish to change your booking date there are two options:

    1. If you set up an online ticketing account through the Dublin Zoo website when you made your Wild Lights booking (or were signed into a preexisting account when placing your order) you can change your date free of charge up to 7 days before the date of the original ticket to another available date with sufficient capacity.

    2. If you do not have an online ticketing account then you can email the Wild Lights customer service team to change your booking date. This can be done up to 7 days before the original date booked. To use this option there is an admin fee of €4 per ticket, payable immediately. If you wish to avail of this option, please email [email protected] with your booking reference, the date you would like to change to, the name and email address you used to book and a contact phone number to arrange payment of the admin fee.

    There is no option to change the date of your booking if it is less than 7 days from the visit date originally booked.

  • Can I use my Tesco boost tokens for Wild Lights?

    No, Tesco tokens/vouchers are only valid for day entry tickets.

  • If I buy a Wild Lights ticket, can I come to the Zoo in the daytime?

    No, Wild Lights tickets do not grant admission to the Zoo during daytime operating hours.

  • I got a free ticket with my adoption pack, can I use this for Wild Lights?

    No, unfortunately the free ticket is only valid for day entry tickets.

  • I would like to make a corporate booking or a booking for a large group, how do I book and what are the rates?

  • How far in advance do I need to book?

    Tickets go on general sale from Tuesday 24th September for Annual Pass holders, Wednesday 25th September for our Newsletter Subscriber Pre-sale and Thursday 26th September for General Sale and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Book early to avoid disappointment!

  • Do I need to print my ticket for entry?

    Tickets for Wild Lights do not need to be printed. You will receive a booking confirmation email with a barcode and reference number, this can be scanned on any mobile device. However, if you wish to print your ticket we will accept them in paper form too.

  • I don't have my ticket confirmation, what should I do?

    You will have received a booking confirmation email from Dublin Zoo shortly after purchase, however due to high volumes of site traffic on certain dates, this is sometimes delayed and can take up to 24 hours. If you have not received this, have a look in your junk/spam email folder. If you are still having difficulties, email [email protected] with the name and email address used to make the booking and the tickets, date, and time slot you booked.

  • Do Dublin Zoo Annual Pass holders get a discount?

    Yes, if you have a valid Dublin Zoo annual pass then you can purchase discounted annual pass Wild Lights tickets online. You will be asked to enter your annual pass number at checkout and this will be checked against the information we have on file. Your annual pass must be valid on the date you attend Wild Lights.

  • What do I need to avail of the Annual Pass holder’s discount?

    Yes, if you have a valid Dublin Zoo annual pass then you can purchase discounted annual pass Wild Lights tickets online. You will be asked to enter your annual pass number at checkout and this will be checked against the information we have on file. Your annual pass must be valid on the date you attend Wild Lights.

  • Do Fota Wildlife Park Annual Pass holders get a discount?

    No, unfortunately we do not offer a discount for Fota Wildlife Park’s annual pass holders.

Cancellation Policy

  • What is Dublin Zoo's ticket cancellation policy for Wild Lights?

    Dublin Zoo has a strict no refunds policy for Wild Lights tickets, as per our terms and conditions, apart from in the event of a venue closure actioned by Dublin Zoo.

    Dublin Zoo accepts no responsibility for a customer’s inability to attend Wild Lights due to any external factor including but not exclusive to traffic restrictions, illness, weather conditions etc.

    Dublin Zoo reserves the right to change or update event timings and content up to and on the day of the event.

  • What happens if my event is cancelled?

    Dublin Zoo reserves the right to cancel any nights of the Wild Lights event for any reason deemed necessary for the safety and well-being of our visitors, staff, and animals. This includes unsafe weather conditions.

    In the event of a cancellation of Wild Lights by Dublin Zoo management, customers will be notified at the earliest possible convenience by email to the email address used to make the booking. It is the responsibility of customers to check for any email updates before arriving at the venue, and to make sure their email address is correctly entered at time of purchase. In the event of a cancellation by Dublin Zoo, customers will receive a full refund to the card used for payment within 15 working days of the cancelled event date. Refunds will be processed automatically and you do not need to contact Dublin Zoo. A change of date is not possible.
