Lapwing Conservation
From 2014 -2016 Dublin Zoo provided funding for the satellite tagging of lapwing chicks in Boora, Co. Offaly to understand fledgeling survivorship and factors which influence this. This project was coordinated by the Irish Grey Partridge Conservation Trust. Lapwing are a Red-listed species in Ireland.
In 2017 Dublin Zoo provided funding to the Irish Grey Partridge Conservation Council to assist in a multi-organisational project investigating the risks and potential solutions for breeding curlew in Ireland. Curlew are a red-listed bird in Ireland and the number of breeding birds has declined substantially in recent decades.
In 2018 and 2019 Dublin Zoo provided funding to the Irish Grey Partridge Conservation Council for their research investigating the efficiency of current breeding wader management strategies.
