What's in a name?

Monday, 30 June 2008

Dublin Zoo invites the public to help keepers find a name for new rhino calf.

One of Dublin Zoo's latest arrivals, a five week-old rhino calf is making quite an impression on the team there with her energetic and playful personality. She is proving to be full of life and loves bonding with mother Ashanti.

The only thing missing from this happy story is that keepers don’t know what to call the calf because, as yet, she has no name!

Dublin Zoo has teamed up with Today Fm to run a competition to find a suitable name for this adventurous youngster, and are calling on the public to help them.

As the new arrival is a Southern white rhinoceros we would like to give her a name with an African origin.

Anyone wishing to make a suggestion are asked to listen to the Breakfast Show on Today FM this week or log onto www.todayfm.com and submit their suggestion online, along with the reason(s) why Dublin Zoo should choose that particular name. Entrants should also include their name, address and telephone number when entering the naming competition.

If your name is chosen – you will win an annual pass for you and your family. The final decision will be made by the people who know her best – her keepers, and their decision will be final.

Closing date for receipt of entries is Thursday 3rd July 2008 at 12 noon. Full details of the competition and terms and conditions can also be found at www.todayfm.com.
