Zookeeper

Temporary Fixed Term Contract / Full-Time 

(Immediate start until 31st December 2019)

Dublin Zoo holds the prestigious position of being ‘Ireland’s Number One Fee Paying Family Attraction’ having welcomed in excess of one million visitors each year.

Dublin Zoo is currently seeking a zoo professional for the temporary position of ‘Keeper’ on a full-time basis.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and passionate about wildlife, with the skills required to communicate this passion and knowledge directly to our visitors. 

S/he must demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of modern zoo practices in animal husbandry, diets and environmental enrichment, as well as an understanding and knowledge of research, conservation and health and safety practices.

The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years experience working with animals in a Keeper role in a Zoological Garden and/or Wildlife Park and hold a Diploma in Animal Management from Sparsholt College, or equivalent.

Ecology Facilitator 

Flexible Fixed Term Contract

Dublin Zoo’s mission is to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature through involvement in conservation and by inspiring passion through education and engaging visitor experiences.

Dublin Zoo is currently seeking a highly motivated ecology facilitator to join our Discovery and Learning Team. This is a unique and sought after opportunity and the ideal candidate will lead junior and leaving certificate ecology modules in the Phoenix Park.

The successful candidate will be well-organised and energetic, with an ability to communicate with secondary school students.  Understanding of grassland/woodland ecology and experience of the secondary school science and biology syllabus is important.

This is a 3 month flexible contract. The successful candidate will be required to commence employment on Wednesday 6th March and this temporary contract will terminate at the end of the current academic year. Flexible hours will be scheduled over 5 weekdays throughout the academic calendar, excluding school midterm breaks.
